Overview
Maritime Combat systems engineer – With Electronic Warfare (EW) Technical Support
Recent EW Knowledge and experience, along with Royal Naval background with trial planning and equipment acceptance would be advantageous.Requirement to be UKSC, Sole UK National, as a minimum and ability to travel to customer sites and ABW. Expectation to attend Abbeywood one day per fortnight
Specific job skills
- Lead system integration and installation activities for MEWSIC and EWCM, engaging with key stakeholders including the Suppliers, Surface Ship Combat Systems Group (SSCSG) Integration Authority (IA), Platform Authorities and third-party suppliers of Combat System Equipment to facilitate the scoping, definition, development of proposals and agreement of activities and updates required to Shared Infrastructure (SI), Ships Services, Combat Management Systems and Ships Structure enabling integration/installation of MEWP capability iaw ships process.
- Engage in Contractor Design and Development activities, manage Interface Control documentation, Service Definitions and Ships Combat System Integration issues to ensure compliance of suppliers with relevant Statements of Work(s). Role IR35 Determination The role described in this Part A has been determined to be inside of IR35 by the Authority. Termination Term A 30-day termination term applies to the role described in this Part A. This amends Clause 13.1.1 of the Aurora Terms and Conditions October 2022 V4.1 More specifically to:
- Engage with land sites (OAC, JEWOSC, MWC, GATEKEEPER) on the install of MEWSIC and ensure all engineering aspects are covered.
- Engagement with BE to progress MWS Operator and Maintainer EGPs (now in theory accepted but likely to still be clarification questions from the sites)
- Work with Babcock to progress the IGPs for the sites (excluding OAC, currently a MOD responsibility) (6) Deep diving into the COTS hardware specs for JEWSOC/GATEKEEPER
Essential skills and experience
- Experience of systems engineering in the context of electronic warfare, such as weapons systems, radar systems, combat systems, software integration, communication systems and counter measures.
- Promote Open systems standards and act as an active member of the MEWP Design Authority
- Preferably, experience with Maritime Combat Systems Networks and integration of complex systems
- Preferably, experience with RN Ships, Alterations & Additions and CIAP Processes and the integration at PTP. Behaviours:

- Experience in managing complex interdependencies with multiple other programmes.
