Overview

The JEWCS system is responsible for providing EW training for Land, Maritime and Air assets in all climates. As well as the EW training the project will also procure an Anti-Ship Missile Defence Evaluation Facility (NASMDEF) for use by NATO Naval Forces. The project is funded by NATO and follows NATO procurement rules and regulations.Land and Maritime systems will provide the capability to simulate the launch of IR, RF and laser guided missiles, engage in navigation warfare techniques and simulate the trigger of Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices.Do so requires a complex mix of sensor, effector and control capabilities mounted in transportable enclosures while meeting requirements of availability, security, mobility, safety, interoperability and be sustainable from a DLOD perspective.

Specific job skills

This role is required to work in a technical/engineering role, taking the lead for the Land and Maritime elements of a Cat B equivalent NATO procurement programme.

  • Ensure the Land and Maritime Training System meets the requirements stated in the System Requirements Documentation:
  • Review all relevant design documentation
  • Attend and contribute to all design reviews
  • Establish a collaborative working arrangement with the Prime Contractor’s Land and Maritime Systems lead engineers
  • Minimum monthly face to face meeting with counterparts
  • Provide a joint quarterly report to the Quarterly Programme Meeting
  • Work with the staff at NATO JEWCS to fully understand the knowledge, skills and experience of the operators thereby ensuring they are capable of producing the required outputs from the system.
  • Attend and contribute to the Training Working Group
  • Be a SQEP member of the Project Safety Panel ideally having relevant experience in this area.
  • The individual will be required to contribute to the production of safety documentation in support of the system safety case/safety case report.
  • Contribute to the project security working group.
  • Contribute to the project Guide for Engineering Activities and Review (GEAR) documentation.
  • Draw on expertise of EW technical specialists from NATO JEWCS and the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA).
